A little bit about Tony

CEO – HPA (Helping People Achieve)

Tony Burns has a history of very successful fundraising for The John Maclean Foundation (JMF), raising over $400,000 between 2010 and 2014.

Tony’s formula is to drive various event based fundraising activities whilst gaining corporate sponsorship, before ending with an endurance challenge. Tony has previously completed multiple Ironman Triathlons and an Ultra Marathon and a 100km ultra marathon in aid of the John Maclean Foundation.

  • In 2011 Tony completed the Cairns Ironman, which comprises of a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike ride, followed by a 42.2km run.
  • In 2012 Tony’s mission was to compete the Egypt Ultra Marathon. Unfortunately Tony was unable to finish, as he was pulled off the course at the 70km, mark due to security risks. Tony returned home only to complete a Market Marathon on a treadmill in Parap Markets Darwin City.
  • In 2013, both Tony & Amy completed the 100km Ultra Challenge is a one day multisport event encompassing six different legs
 covering 100km’s around the Katherine region.
  • Not one to rest on his laurels, In 2014 Tony created his own event called ‘Croc to Croc’ a 100km ultra marathon through Darwin. The race route started at Adelaide River Croc Cruises. The course then proceeded through various suburbs of Darwin and Palmerston, before finishing in City at the Esplanade

Tony’s 2014 Challenge

On 27th July, 2014, Tony, with the support of friends and family, will be ending his 2014 campaign by participating in another Ultra Marathon race, this time in Darwin. ‘Bringing It Home for the Kids’, is a 100km run through the Darwin Region. The race route starts at Adelaide River Croc Cruises. The course then proceeds through various suburbs of Darwin and Palmerston, before finishing in City at the Esplanade. Prior to July 27th, Tony and his partner Amy will be hosting events such as trivia nights, sausage sizzles and a family fun day, with the objectives to raise awareness and much needed funds.
