Southern Crossing

The Great Southern Crossing with JMF – You can support JMF by riding your bike!

In previous years you have been among an amazing group of people who have raised funds for us. We are really grateful for your support and wanted you to know that the money you have raised has helped us ensure we continue to help young Australians in wheelchairs remain active and included in their everyday lives.

KEEP HELPING US MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Your ongoing support means a lot to us, so we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that you can continue to make a difference by fundraising for JMF in The Great Southern Crossing which begins on Nov 1, 2015.

The Great Southern Crossing is a virtual cycling event utilising Everydayhero’s platforrn’s brand new integration with the world’s most popular cycling app – Strava. The event takes place throughout the entire month of November and entry is free to all participants.

The way the event works is by challenging teams of up to 5 or individual cyclists to ride hard through the month of November, using Strava to log their kilometres. Each team’s goal is to log enough kilometres with Strava to virtually cross Australia on a route that will take them 5,200km from Brisbane to Perth.

Money raised from this event will continue to provide support and equipment for children who live in wheelchairs and help us grant them much needed equipment to change their lives.

If John can get 118km done in one session then you could attempt 5200km in a month!

Another PB today. I rode 118kms on my bike with my mate G. Slow and steady will get me to the finish line. This is my plan.

Tristan Martin is a past ironman as he has participated in the JMF Kids 4 Kids challenge in previous years and here is what he has to say about why he loves it!
“I’m doing JMF kids 4 kids again because it’s been a lot of fun and it’s very inspirational.”
Jai Martin is Tristan’s little brother who has been inspired by watching his big brother complete the challenge so this year he has decided to get in on the fun and become an ironman whilst helping little Aussie wheelies.
“I want to do JMF kids 4 kids because it will get me outside more and be more sporty.”
Tristan and Jai’s mum also sent through some wonderful feedback about the JMF Kids 4 Kids challenge.
I’m happy that my boys want to do this because it is a great way to get fit and outdoors while teaching them a lot about how lucky they are and the challenges that others face.  Also seeing John overcome so many of those challenges is also a great thing for the boys to experience.
Our third winner was Aspen who is also a past participant in the JMF Kids 4 Kids challenge who is back to enjoy all the fun again.
“I took the challenge last year and seeing John McLean complete his race in Penrith has motivated me to do it again.”

Changing Lives

By | Extreme Fundraising Adventures, Fundraising, Grant Presentations, Inclusion, JMF Kids 4 Kids, John Maclean | No Comments

Changing Lives is what The John Maclean Foundation is all about.

We had the incredible opportunity of changing the lives of six families who have children with Cerebral Palsy last Friday night in Brisbane.

Here are some pictures of the beautiful children and their families who were presented with $15,000 worth in Grants.

A huge thank you to Hotel Urban Brisbane who donated their function space and catered for our presentation in spectacular style. Your support of the Foundation goes a long way towards helping to change the lives of little Aussie wheelies.

You can change lives too by DONATING TODAY

Aliya John Web

Aliya and John after the presentation. This little princess was one of the stars of the night. JMF funded the gap that Aliya and her family needed to purchase this new set of wheels.

Elias2 Web

Elias with his mum and grandfather. JMF granted Elias a Contour V Hip abduction brace for night time to achieve better positioning for his hips while sleeping to minimise further hip migration.

Elias Web

I am told by Elias’s mum that John is his new Hero! We hope to be able to support Elias and his family into the future.

Claude Web

Claude’s eldest brother spoke to the crowd about the changes to their lives these reverse cycle air conditioners would make. These two units will go a long way to improving the everyday life of Claude and reduce the number of hospital admissions and seizures he experiences every year.

Cody Web

John and Ricky are about to present Cody and his family with a Grant to fund the Daessy mount and accessories that will enable him to better communicate with his family and the broader community.

Daelle and her family were granted a ReturnTransfer Platform which will allow her to pull herself up with only minimal help and transfer to her bed or wheelchair in a much safer way. It will also go a long way to ease Daelle’s mum’s chronic back pain.

Hannah and her family were granted the bathroom modifications she and her family needs to make it a safe, relaxing and enjoyable environment for them all.

The John Maclean Foundation welcomes these children into our Family and look forward to assisting them further as they grow and their needs change.

Please Donate today so we can continue to assist families around Australia. #Change4Change
