MEET DANIEL GALLOWAY

Like any eight-year-old boy, Daniel loves to play outside and go to the beach near his home in Logan Village between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.  However, his Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly and Epilepsy makes it difficult for his family to help fulfil those ambitions and join in family activities.  So they applied for, and were granted, funds towards the cost of a new super high range wheelchair for Daniel by the John MacLean Foundation.

JMF provided just over $2000 towards the $7000 Hippocampe Beach Wheelchair, the outstanding amount needed after the family was also awarded a Queensland government subsidy.

Daniel’s mother and big brother are now able to take him to the beach and on bush walks which they say has vastly improved the quality of their time together.  The all-terrain wheels on the Hippocampe wheelchair means Daniel can not only be wheeled onto the beach but into the water.

Even a simple trip to the back yard has been made possible as previously the uneven terrain on the family’s property meant Daniel had to be carried just to spend time in his own garden.  Now he can easily be taken outside to enjoy his surroundings and help feed the chickens!
